Civil Engineering

Designing the roads, highways, drainage, and infrastructure that support Malaysia’s growth.

Civil Engineering

Capabilities

Our civil engineering service covers the full spectrum of design, technical audit, and construction supervision requirements across the following areas.

Full civil design for federal roads, state roads, urban arterial roads, and highway upgrading works. Our capability spans geometric design, pavement engineering, road furniture, drainage integration, and construction supervision. We have executed civil design for major highway packages including the Second East-West Highway (Simpang Pulai – Kuala Berang) and multiple federal road upgrading assignments for Jabatan Kerja Raya.

Civil engineering design for railway alignments and airport runway infrastructure, including formation works, drainage systems, and interface with structural and mechanical systems. Our railway civil experience includes the Ipoh–Padang Besar Electrified Double Track and the Subang–Skypark Electrified Double Track programmes.

Specialist pavement engineering for port container yards, industrial hardstands, airport aprons, and heavy-duty roadways. Our pavement designs address the specific loading conditions, environmental exposure, and life-cycle requirements of each application — a capability demonstrated across successive Northport container yard developments.

Design of stormwater drainage networks compliant with MASMA (Manual Saliran Mesra Alam Malaysia), main drainage upgrading works, culvert systems, water supply reticulation, sewerage reticulation systems, and flood mitigation infrastructure. Our drainage portfolio includes multiple ongoing assignments for Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and river upgrading works for state irrigation departments.

Geotechnical and civil engineering design for land reclamation projects including pond reclamation, ground improvement, and coordination with drainage and foundation systems.

Design and technical support for dam-related civil works and large-scale water storage and reticulation infrastructure.

Technical Approach and Design Philosophy

Our civil engineering practice is grounded in five core principles that shape every design we produce.

Every design we produce is tested against the practical realities of Malaysian construction — available materials, contractor capability, site logistics, and prevailing methods of work. Buildable designs deliver on time and on budget.

All our civil designs conform to Malaysian design codes, JKR standards where applicable, MASMA drainage guidelines, and internationally recognised engineering practices. Where multiple standards apply, we design to the most stringent applicable requirement.

We design infrastructure to perform reliably across its intended service life. This means considering long-term maintenance access, material durability under Malaysian climate conditions, and adaptability to future upgrading requirements.

Civil engineering never exists in isolation. Our designs are coordinated from the outset with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical requirements, minimising interface risk and eliminating late-stage design changes.

Every design gives full consideration to environmental impact, drainage management, erosion control, and the protection of surrounding ecosystems — particularly important on projects traversing sensitive terrain such as our forested highway packages.

Projects

Second East-West Highway – Packages 6 and 6A

Design and supervision for two packages of the new 313.7 km Simpang Pulai – Lojing – Gua Musang – Kuala Berang Inter-State Backbone Road, appointed by Jabatan Kerja Raya. The works included high earth embankments through dense jungle terrain, segmental box girder viaducts, bridges, culverts, and full road furniture installation. Combined project value: approximately RM500 million.

Ulu Pauh – Padang Besar (via Chuping) Road

Civil and structural design for a new 30 km road connecting Ulu Pauh to Padang Besar via Chuping, Perlis, appointed by Jabatan Kerja Raya. Project value: RM150 million (Year 2009).

Kuantan – Pekan Federal Road Upgrading

Independent Checker role for the upgrading of the Federal Road from KM9.0 (Kuantan) to KM46.00 (Pekan), Pahang, appointed by Jabatan Kerja Raya. Project value: RM400 million (Year 2007).

DBKL Drainage and Flood Mitigation Programme

A continuing series of civil and structural design assignments for Kuala Lumpur City Hall including:

  • Main Drainage Culvert Upgrading from Taman Perdana Lake Garden to KL Sentral Complex (RM7 million, 2005)
  • Bunus River Catchment Drainage Upgrading (RM5.5 million, 2021)
